Norns
   The Nordic fates: Urd, (Fate or Destiny): Verdandi, (Being); Skuld, (Necessity). Some were said to be descended from the Aesir, some from the giants, and some from the dwarfs or elves, being described in the Prose Eddas as the daughters of Davalin. In fact they would appear to have been a college of sibyls at Asgard, with which the Valkyries may have been associated. They may originally have been the guardians of the sacred fountain at the foot of Yggdrasill.
